GIS: Boost the Process of Localization of Imported Spare Parts

Under the background that localization of imported spare parts becomes a general trend, many domestic mining companies subsequently carry out this process for cost decreasing and benefit increasing. As a Chinese extra-large vanadium, titanium and steel enterprise, Pangang group has continuously sped up the replacement of imported mining equipment and localization of imported spare parts in the past few years. 12 Mt/a railroad dump resource comprehensive utilization project of Zhulan iron ore mine branch of Pangang Group is one of the major project in Pangang Group’s fourteenth five-year development plan. Two supersized CC cylinder cone crushers from NMS are used for medium crushing and six banana screens from NMS are selected for screening the finished product in this project.

Well-known imported PG6089 gyratory crusher used for coarse crushing is old equipment, was once used in the project of Baima iron ore mine branch of Pangang Group and has been put into use since 2013. Imported spare parts are expensive and feature long lead time, which leads to high production cost and increasingly sharp contradiction in purchasing. Besides, the crusher has been used for long, has a series of questions to be solved which seriously affect its safe operation. In addition, the matched electronic control system only has basic functions such as start and stops, and cannot meet the actual production demand. The client was actively responsive to appealing development theme of green, environment protection, efficiency and energy saving, further decreased maintenance cost, increased production efficiency and got rid of dependence on imported spare parts. So the client decided on purchasing domestic spare parts, and improved protection & control system for the crusher and promoted equipment safety performance.

Knowing the client’s demand, professional team from GIS quickly arrived on site for survey and research. After full interaction with GIS, the client deemed that GIS had the capacity of technology transformation, provided comprehensive “product + service” solutions and succeeded in replacement application of its high-quality domestic spare parts in many projects at home or abroad. With the tight schedule and heavy tasks, GIS instantly sent technical engineers, three after-service engineers and two quality test engineers there and technical support engineers from NMS Automation Technology Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of NMS, for providing on-site guidance. After fully understanding PG6089 gyratory crusher, the service team carried out on-site professional tests such as ultrasonic flaw detection. The result showed a series of questions including oil leakage from beam bushing oil seal and failure of liquid level sensor, internal abrasion and burns of eccentric copper sleeves, and honeycomb cracks in the journal under the main shaft. In response to these questions, technical engineers from GIS presented the practical improvement plan. With everyone’s full collaboration in a race against time, equipment protection, control system replacement and debugging, part replacement, inspection and cleaning have successfully been completed for fifteen days. They met various technical demands initially put forward by client and strongly guaranteed the safe and stable project operation. On the exchange meeting, the client expressed great satisfaction with GIS’ service level and service attitude and deemed that the transformed crusher was good beyond imagination and the prominent effect has been made in lowering costs and increasing benefits, which provided experience and instilled confidence in continuously promoting localization of imported spare parts.
